A little about Mumbai
MUMBAI formerly known as BOMBAY is the financial capital of India and the capital
of Maharashtra. Mumbai is one of the most affluent, the most industrialized and
the most glamorous city. It forms the world's 4th largest urban agglomeration.
It offers a high standard of living. It houses approximately 20 million people
and has the most expensive real estate in the world. If it houses the wealthy it
is also home to the upper, middle and the lower middle class. It is home to the
infamous Bollywood and the T.V stars. Mumbai's business opportunities, as well
as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, attract migrants from all
over India/World and, in turn, make the city a potpourri of many communities and
cultures.
Year 1991 onwards the Government of India embarked upon a radical economic
growth leading to the present burgeoning of foreign capital inflows expanding
business opportunities to foreign companies. The companies have located largely
in Mumbai as it is the economic powerhouse of India.

CLIMATE:
Mumbai's climate can be best described as moderate temperature with high level
of humidity. We have moderate temperatures throughout the year.
SUMMER:
Through March and mid June. Average temperature could be anywhere from 30 C to
39 C. It is fairly hot and humid. April and May are the hottest months and the
peak summer afternoons can be witnessed in May.
MONSOON:
Through mid June and September. Average temperature is between 25 C and 34 C. It
is fairly pleasant due to slight drop in temperature. However, it is pretty
humid and you may have to relate to the weather at it changes every day
consistently through the few months.
WINTER:
Through mid October and mid February. Average 17 C and 28 C.There is a marginal
drop in temperature during the nights. The late December and early January
mornings and evenings are lovely and you may just love to support a jacket in a
fashionable mood.
TRANSPORT:
Mumbai has a variety of public transport within easy reach. Large number of
people travel through planes, trains, auto rickshaw and taxis. There are those
that even use ferries as a faster mode of transport. There are those that even

cabs traverse through the whole of Mumbai while auto rickshaw operates only in
the suburbs.
Coming up is the Mumbai metro which is an underground and elevated rapid system.
It is presently under construction. The Mbai monorail will operate through Jacob
circle and Wadala. Mumbai is well connected with the western railway and BEST.
Buses are used for commuting short to medium distances, while train fares are
more economical for long distance commutes.
CULTURE:
Mumbai is a blend of festivals, food, music and theatre. It has a rich and a
very cosmopolitan life style. The city offers a variety of entertainment, food
and night life. You have a variety of choices as to how you would like to spend
your evening; you can enjoy a movie at a multiplex near you or enjoy dancing at
a pulsating disco. Enjoy a quite evening at a restaurant with Gazal singers
singing to your choice of music or enjoy a play at a theatre close by or visit
