To make the decor of the bedroom coordinated and
harmonious, one should decide on the furniture first, then
the wall colors and in the end, the curtains and accessories
to match.
-
The furniture should be in proportion with the size of the
room to make it look light and airy.
-
A bed, one or two side tables, and a utility cabinet or
chest of drawers should be placed in the bedroom with the
rest of the space left vacant for free movement.
-
If the furniture is dark, the walls should be painted in
very light colors.
-
The lighter shades of cool or neutral colors like blue,
gray, white, etc. should be used to make the room look
spacious and soothing.
-
A combination of heavy and light curtains should be used
to control the amount of natural light coming into the room.
-
The bed should be placed under the window to avoid the
glare of the sun. Side tables should be placed next to it
for keeping lamps, etc.
-
The lighting in the bedroom should comprise one main
bright preferably white light, two bedside reading lamps and
a few dim lights like lampshades.
-
The switches of the bedside lamps should be within easy
reach from the bed.
-
Wall hangings or paintings should be placed on the wall
oposite the bed.
-
There should be no plants in the bedroom. If there
are plants, they should be kept out in the night.
SMART TIP: To keep money, jewellery, etc. safely, you could use
the cavity in the wall created for the switchboard. Make the
cavity bigger and install a small locking device to open and
close the switchboard that doubles up as the door of your
locker.
