-
The most important requirements of a kitchen are ample
moving space and storage.
-
A kitchen should have large windows for the right amount
of lighting and ventilation. Very light half curtains can
also be used in the kitchen if the stove is not next to the
window.
-
The sink should be under the window to facilitate fast
drying of the kitchen.
-
The stove should be always away from the window and the
wall around the window should be covered with tiles for easy
cleaning.
-
The refrigerator and sink should be easily accessible for
the the stove.
-
Storage space should be created under the work platform
and on above shoulder level on the wall.
-
Separate sections of the workshop should be demarcated for
cutting and chopping, keeping dirty and clean utensils,
cooked food and electronic appliances.
-
If the kitchen is large, a work table, which can also be
used as a casual dining table, can be placed in the center.
-
Open, white lights should be used in the kitchen for
proper illumination while working. The work top and stove
should get ample light.
-
Colors should be used to make the kitchen look bright and
spacious.
-
Electronic appliances should be within easy reach and
there should be extra plug points in the kitchen for two or
three appliances to be used together.
SMART TIP: Place a table at the end of the worktop to keep a
small television, music system or even computer and you can
entertain yourself while cooking. Recipe books can also be kept
on this table.
