Maharashtra government acquires Air India building in Mumbai for ₹1,601 crore
📅 June 03, 2026
The Maharashtra government has officially acquired the 23-storey sea-facing Air India building located at Nariman Point in south Mumbai for approximately ₹1,601 crore. The property has been transferred to the state's public works department. This acquisition comes as a response to the ongoing shortage of government office space near the secretariat, a need that the state has been addressing for several years. The purchase provides the administration with valuable commercial space in one of Mumbai's most prominent business districts.
