Andheri set for Mumbai's first 100-acre slum cluster redevelopment

A 101-acre cluster in Andheri West, of which about 61 acres is slum land, has been chosen as the city's first large-scale slum cluster redevelopment under a new scheme intended to make Mumbai slum-free. The plan envisages 28,061 rehabilitation homes alongside schools, healthcare and open spaces.

Three large developers have entered competitive bids, each placing a deposit of about ₹175 crore, with technical bids opened in early June 2026. The slum authority has identified close to 18 such cluster pockets citywide that could eventually benefit several lakh residents.
